Great Falls, VA Estate and Home Moving

Great Falls is a different animal from the rest of our service area. Tucked along the Potomac in northern Fairfax County, reached from Sterling across the Algonkian and Lowes Island side or down Route 7, it’s large estates on wooded acreage, long private driveways, and homes with no HOA telling you when you can move. What it does have is space, gates, and scale — five- and six-bedroom houses, finished lower levels, wine rooms, home gyms, and the kind of furniture and art that needs serious protection.

The challenges here aren’t elevators and reserved windows; they’re the long carries from the road to the front door, the gravel and tree-lined driveways our trucks have to navigate, and the sheer volume of a big estate. We plan the truck staging so a 26-footer can turn and back safely on a winding private drive, and where a gate or a soft shoulder won’t take the weight, we stage at the road and shuttle in. The Potomac-side lots also tend to slope, so we map the carry path and protect the grade before the first piece comes out.

How We Move Great Falls Estates

Our crew handles long driveway carries, walkout lower levels, and the wrap-and-crate care that high-value pieces demand — chandeliers, art, pianos, and antiques get individual attention. It’s our own movers on our own trucks, never a subcontractor near your valuables. A 4-bedroom-plus estate generally starts in the $2,800–$4,140 range and climbs with the square footage and the specialty items; a piano runs from $395. We always do a walkthrough and a written estimate before move day so the scope is clear.

“Tiny studio move within Cascades, third floor walk-up. Two movers had it done in under two hours and charged me the hourly rate to the minute. No padding the clock.”

“Corporate relocation out of Ashburn near the data-center corridor. My company gave me a tight window between projects and Son Movers worked a Saturday to fit it. The crew showed up in uniform, knew the Brambleton gatehouse routine, and had us loaded before the morning heat got bad. They handled my home-office setup like they understood I needed it working Monday.”

“Leesburg to Sterling, painless. Dylan's crew was friendly without wasting time, and the final invoice matched the estimate. Would call them again.”

FAQ

My Great Falls driveway is long, gravel, and tree-lined. Can your truck get to the house?
Usually yes, and we plan the staging in advance. If a 26-foot truck can't safely turn or back up your private drive, we stage it where it fits and shuttle to the door. We'd rather add a short carry than risk your landscaping or the truck.
I have art, a chandelier, and antique pieces. How are those protected?
Each one gets individual treatment — custom wrap, padding, and crating where it's warranted, not just a moving blanket. For the highest-value items we recommend full-value protection over the standard coverage, and we walk through it all with you beforehand.
There's no HOA out here, so what's the holdup on a same-day big move?
Nothing on the rules side — Great Falls estates are refreshingly free of move-in windows. The real planning is the sheer volume and the specialty pieces, so for a large home we do a walkthrough first and size the crew and trucks to finish in a day.
